즐거운 한주, 핀테크의 반란,A Joyful Week, The Fintech Rebellion

이번주와 저번주를 통틀어 어마어마한 성과를 거 둔 날이었다. 블록은 11월 2일에 발표된 수익보고서에서 좋은 성과를 보여준후 시장 외에서 주가가 38.85 달러에서 현재 53.35 달러로 약 24% 정도 뛰었다. 20203년 3분기의 EPS 예상은 0.45달러였는데 보고는 0.55달러로 약 18% 정도 높았다. 수익도 예상 54.35억 달러에 비해 3.36% 정도 높은 56.17억 달러로 3분기를 마쳤다. EPS 가 작년에 비해 31% 정도 올랐다. 현재 아직 수익을 만들고 있지는 않지만, 곧 수익을 만들 수도 있다는 기대감으로 이 주가를 보기는 한다. 그런데 아직도 샀을 때에 비교하면 한없이 떨어져서 가슴이 조마조마하긴 하다. 아픈 손가락이기 

 

페이팔도 마찬가지이다. 3분기 수익보고서 이후 약 50.25 달러에서 56.7달러로 올라갔고 현재는 약 54달러에서 유지 중이다. 수익보고서에서도 마찬가지로 EPS 가 예상한 것보다 약 6% 정도 높았고 매출도 작년에 비해 높았다. 그런데 순이익, 순이익률은 작년보다 안 좋았기 때문에 걱정이 되기는 했지만, 시장점유율, 고객층들을 생각하면 아주 나쁜 주식은 아닌 것 같다. 이 주식도 많이 물러있다. 순이익을 약 1조 원 이상 내는 기업이 이렇게 사람들에게 매력 없는 주식이기는 힘든 것 같다. 

 

페이팔과 블록의 주식이 계속 올라가기를 바라면서 다음분기에 있을 수익보고서를 기다릴 수밖에 없는 것 같다. 내가 생각하는 매력적인 주식이 맞을까 틀릴까를 계속 생각하고 있지만, 사람일은 절대 모르는 것이기 때문에, 일단 들고 있어보려고 한다.

This week and last week have been days of tremendous achievements. Block's stock price jumped about 24% from $38.85 to $53.35 after the earnings report released on November 2nd showed good performance. The EPS estimate for the third quarter of 2023 was $0.45, but the report showed $0.55, about 18% higher. Revenue also ended the third quarter higher than expected, at $5.617 billion compared to the forecasted $5.435 billion, a 3.36% increase. EPS has increased by about 31% compared to last year. Currently, they are not yet making a profit, but there is hope that they will soon, which is reflected in the stock price. However, it's still significantly lower than when I bought it, which is nerve-wracking. It's like a sore thumb.

 

The same goes for PayPal. After the third-quarter earnings report, its stock rose from about $50.25 to $56.7 and is currently maintaining around $54. The EPS in the earnings report was also about 6% higher than expected, and revenue was higher than last year. However, net profit and net profit margin were worse than last year, which is concerning, but considering market share and customer base, it doesn't seem like a terrible stock. This stock is also quite underwater. It seems hard for a company generating over 1 trillion won in net profit to be unattractive to people.

I can't help but wait for the next quarter's earnings report, hoping that PayPal and Block's stocks will continue to rise. I keep wondering whether these stocks I find attractive are right or wrong, but since one can never be sure about these things, I plan to hold onto them for now.
